Betweeen Two Worlds: Reflections of Contemporary Chinese Art

Jan 30th - Apr 9th
Open Every Day from 12pm - 5pm

The Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts presents "Between Two Worlds," an exhibition exploring the emerging styles, significant themes, and latest trends of contemporary Chinese painting, sculpture, and installation art.

Guest curator Cheryl McGinnis has shaped the exhibition to focus on personal expressions of global change - physical, political and technological. Artists Hu Bing, Zhang Hongtu, Bing Lee, Tattfoo Tan, Nina Kuo and Lorin Roser-originating from China, Malaysia and the U.S.-appropriate and blend Chinese with western imagery, traditions and techniques to express his or her philosophical quest.

With a compelling variety of media, they break free of all boundaries in their works, powerfully emerging with the universal identity of "Contemporary Artist." You are invited to participate in their own search for self as they physically and emotionally navigate this tangible sensory landscape of mind, body and spirit.

A curator's talk led by Cheryl McGinnis will be held on Sunday, March 26th at 2 p.m. McGinnis will give a guided tour of the exhibition and explain the themes and inspiration behind the art. Admission is free and open to the public.
