An Open Workshop of Marymere, A Chamber Opera by Matthew Schickele
Matthew Schickele, FCCA Composer in Residence, uses the talents of both classical and folk musicians in a one-act opera, Marymere, that tells the true story of a suspected murderer and a wealthy eccentric in Wyoming at the turn of the last century.

New Music and Traditional Repertoire from Queens College
World-renowned Chinese composer, pianist, conductor, and educator Bright Sheng’s compositions are noted around the world for their lyrical, limpid melodies inspired by the folk music of China and Chinese opera. Sheng serves as Leonard Bernstein Distinguished University Professor of Music at the University of Michigan. Clarinetist Charles Neidich appears frequently as soloist with leading ensembles, including the Saint Louis Symphony, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Juilliard, Guarneri, and Mendelssohn String Quartets, and is an ardent exponent of new music. He is on the faculties of the Juilliard School, Queens College, the Manhattan School, and Mannes College of Music. Starts at 2:00 PM.

Philippine Montessori Pre-School Instrumental & Temple Hill International School Instrumental Ensembles. Delightful performance by two stellar student ensembles visiting from the Philippines. Enjoy this concert before their performance at Merkin Concert Hall! Program includes compositions by Rossini, Brahms, Khachaturian, and Filipino composers, and features instruments such as marimba, xylophone, mettalophone, glockenspeil and angklung, an Indonesian bamboo instrument. Starts at 7:00 PM.

St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble
St. Luke’s Chamber Ensemble will present a free chamber music concert at Flushing Town Hall as part of its five-day tour of the boroughs of New York City. Each concert will be a drop-off site in a series-long food drive for New York’s hungry and homeless, in partnership with City Harvest. Attendees are encouraged to drop off non-perishable donations at Flushing Town Hall before the performance. Following the concert, ice cream will be available for sale from the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, which will donate 20% of all sales proceeds to City Harvest. Starts at 7:30 PM.
