WORKSHOP AND RESIDENCY DESCRIPTIONS

Asian Ink Brushwork Painting Workshop/Residency In Person, Virtual

The workshop will introduce the basics of ink brushwork from the Asian ink art tradition. Students will study tonal drawing, learn to work with the large Asian calligraphy brush and apply it to paint various “ideas” of elements from nature such as rocks, trees, and waters. At the same time, some of the masters’ works will be brought up to correspond with the introduction of each technique. With an enhanced understanding of the art form, students will gradually appreciate this unique tradition and the philosophy behind it. The workshop can be developed into a residency. In the residency, students will have the opportunity to practice with watercolor, create still life, and utilize all the techniques to complete a full piece at the end of the program. For grades 6 and up!

Eastern and Western Watercolor Painting Workshop/Residency In Person, Virtual
