Traditional Mexican Dance Assembly In Person, Virtual
FTH teaching artist Alberto Lopez, with his Calpulli Mexican Dance Company, presents traditional Hispanic dances such as those from the state of Jalisco with its bright Mariachi music and the Gulf Coast of Mexico with its Caribbean influence. This assembly can be adapted into a live virtual assembly which includes a performance video of Calpulli, as well as Alberto leading a discussion on the history, geography, and culture of Mexico’s regional areas (traditions, dress, songs, foods, and more).
Traditional Mexican Dance Workshop/Residency In Person, Virtual
Mexican dance residencies are developed in partnership with schools and in conjunction with classroom curriculum. Dances may include Hispanic dances such as those from the state of Jalisco with its bright Mariachi music and the Gulf Coast of Mexico with its Caribbean influence. Students will be introduced to Mexican dances, as well as related Spanish vocabulary and folk terms. The residency will conclude with a culminating student performance demonstration. Professional children's costumes are available to rent for use during the residency. For all ages!
Traditional Dress Making for Mexican Dance Workshop In Person
FTH teaching artist Alberto Lopez leads an interactive workshop in the craft of producing folkloric dresses. From bundles of cloth, Alberto Lopez produces stunning dresses representative of Mexico. The workshop is targeted at a mature audience. It may serve as a complementary program while children participate in workshops. For all ages!
