Sequential Art represents many things to many people. By definition, it is a "form of visual storytelling that uses a series of images, (also called panels or frames), to convey a narrative." This narrative is mostly commonly displayed in comic books, cartoons, and storyboards. It takes a whole creative team to make a Comic Book, that team includes Artists, Writers, Inkers, Colorists, Editors, and Letterers. They all contribute to what makes Sequential Art Storytelling great and pop culture icons like Wonder Woman, The X-Men, The Avengers, and Superman relevant.

This fall, Flushing Town Hall invites comic book artists, writers, and cartoonists, from all different backgrounds and from across the NYC metro area to showcase their work, expressing to audiences what Sequential Art means to them. NYC is where the birth of mainstream comic book creation began so it's only fitting to exhibit the work of local comic book artists and creators in this art show.

Submissions can include:
  • Fully compromised comic book pages (penciled, colored, inked, and lettered)
  • Penciled and/or inked or colored comic book pages
  • Character designs
  • Layouts (framework of the page before the full art is on the page)
  • Comic book script pages (with or without edits)
  • Character Descriptions
  • Comic book cover work
  • Pin ups
Both new and old work can be submitted to this open call. Artists are invited to submit one artwork to be included in the exhibition. There will be a limit to accepted artwork based on available space and size of accepted pieces. Artists will be able to have work up for sale.
