Xueli Wang

Xueli Wang is a writer from New York. Her words have appeared in Artforum, Aperture, The Margins, Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art, and elsewhere. She's currently completing a dissertation on Maggie Cheung at Yale.
Mamahuhu

Mamahuhu is a New York-based project created by Yuki He and Qianfan Gu, dedicated to curating events and happenings around live music, visual arts, food and drinks, design, and beyond, with a particular focus on Asian culture. Meaning “so-so” or “casual” in Chinese, Mamahuhu holds an easy-minded philosophy to embrace the imperfect beauty of live and immersive experiences.
Growing alongside the independent cultural community, Mamahuhu has organized or co-hosted live performances for musicians and artists including Shanghai Restoration Project (New York, 2019), Shanghai Pie + Pu Poo Platter (New York, 2023), and the Japanese alternative rock band Luby Sparks’s first U.S Tour (New York, Boston, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Seattle, San Diego, Los Angeles, 2023). Additionally, Mamahuhu has been featured in Pavilion People at Columbus Park (New York, 2022) and Midnight Food Stop at Bungee Space (New York, 2022).
Yuki He

As an architect, Yuki has worked in world-renowned architecture and interior design offices including CCD (Cheng Chung Design) (Shenzhen), Junya Ishigami + Associates (Tokyo), Thomas Leeser (New York), K/R Architects (New York), and Urbanus Architecture (Shenzhen).
At Mamahuhu, he blends his expertise in architecture with his passion for music and art to create immersive spaces and experiences. He is also the co-publisher of Gong Press.
Qianfan Gu

Qianfan is a critic and writer. Her writing has been featured in Art in America, Artforum and Artforum China, BLAU International, Spike, The Art Newspaper China, Esquire China, and Life Week, among many others. She co-founded and served as co-editor of Heichi Magazine in 2020-2021. She is also the co-publisher of Gong Press.
Anne Wu

Anne Wu is an artist working primarily in sculpture and installation. She received an MFA in Sculpture from Yale University and a BFA from Cornell University. Her work has been exhibited at M 2 3 (New York, NY), Real Art Ways (Hartford, CT), The Shed (New York, NY), Shaker Museum | Mount Lebanon (New Lebanon, NY), and the New York Public Library (New York, NY), among others. She was an artist-in-residence at the Smack Mellon Artist Studio Program from 2021 to 2022 and the NARS Satellite Residency on Governors Island in 2020. In 2022, she received a Rema Hort Mann Foundation Emerging Artist Grant.
Xiyadie
Xiyadie (b. 1963, Shaanxi, China) is a self-taught traditional Chinese papercut artist who started creating works with homoerotic themes to tell his narrative of transformation. Xiyadie means Siberian Butterfly, a name he chose after his move to Beijing as a migrant worker in 2005, where he found an accepting community in the burgeoning gay subcultural scene.
His works have also been shown at Ujazdowski Castle Centre for Contemporary Art, Warsaw; Long March Space, Beijing (2019); Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts (2019); Gwangju Biennale (2018); Nome Gallery, Berlin (2018); Para Site, Hong Kong (2017); Galerie Verbeeck – Van Dyck, Antwerp (2015); Topenmuseum, Amsterdam (2015); Museum of World Culture, Gothenburg (2013); Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities, Stockholm (2012); and Flazh!Alley Art Studio, San Pedro, USA (2012). Xiyadie has been profiled by Hyperallergic, BBC News, Los Angeles Times, Global Times, Shaanxi TV, Dragon TV, CCTV, et alors? and Advocate. He is a member of the China Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Art, as well as the Shaanxi Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Art. His work is held in the public collection of Tate.
Lu Zhang

Lu is a New York based artist born in Xi'an, China. Lu attempts to recreate intimate experiences sourced from memories and dreams generated by relationships, to tell stories in the form of installation and performance that incorporates ceramics, found objects, moving images and sound. Lu’s recent film A Girl Sings Along Without Knowing the Words, an experimental documentary film essay was screened at Royal Queen dim sum restaurant in Flushing, Queens.
Lu received her MFA in Fine Arts and MS in Art History from Pratt Institute and holds a BA degree in Economics from Xi’an JiaoTong University. Lu has exhibited in various group shows and has given artist talks, lectures and public programs nationally and internationally.
Janice Chung

Born and raised in Queens, New York City, Janice Chung is a Korean American photographer whose work explores themes of nostalgia, family, and the hyphenated experience. Often utilizing the natural elements in her environment, Chung offers a soft yet gritty look at the seemingly ordinary, which invites viewers into a nuanced exploration of Korean American identity within the diasporic struggle and immigrant narrative. Chung's work has been featured in publications such as New York Magazine's The Cut, Vogue, and Hyperallergic.
Herb Tam

Herb Tam has been the Curator and Director of Exhibitions at the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) since 2011. He recently co-curated “The Moon Represents My Heart: Music, Memory and Belonging” and “Sour, Sweet, Bitter, Spicy: Stories of Chinese Food and Identity in America.” He is a member of the painting club P_Lub along with Trisha Baga and Lu Zhang, and a co-founder (with Lu Zhang) of Chinatown Basketball Club.
Sixuan Tong

Sixuan Tong lives and works in New York City. She holds an MFA in Communication Design from Pratt Institute. Her practice focuses on graphic design and writing. She is currently working with/at Bungee Space, among others.
