GLOBAL MASHUP: Brooklyn World Wide Comes to Queens
Apr 11, 2026
Flushing Town Hall welcomes our Brooklyn neighbors from the Jalopy Theatre for a night of explosive musical fusion! Join us for GLOBAL MASHUP: Mexico-South America-Trinidad, a one-of-a-kind concert experience that breaks down borders and builds community through rhythm.
The night kicks off with an interactive dance lesson to get everyone on their feet. Then, two incredible bands from opposite ends of the hemisphere will take the stage. First, experience the electrifying sets from Guachinangos and Shiva Lakhan, each performing their own blend of global music. Then, witness the magic of the finale as the artists come together for a spontaneous, genre-defying mashup jam session.
FEATURING
Guachinangos
Hailing from Latin America, Guachinangos delivers a high-energy fusion of Mexican son jarocho with Colombian cumbia and other Afro-Latin rhythms like champeta. Described as “folk fusion from another dimension,” their mix of traditional and electric instrumentation creates an irresistible swing that turns every show into a dance party and a community gathering. With electrifying stage energy, they invite you to feel the rhythm and move your body.
Shiva Lakhan
Born in Trinidad and Tobago, Shiva Lakhan is a versatile and award-winning Indo-Caribbean recording artist who transcends musical boundaries. A master of chutney, bhajans, and Indian classical songs, Lakhan captivates audiences with his distinctive style and powerful performances. His decades-long career is studded with major victories, including winning Trinidad's Mastana Bahar in 1999, capturing the International Chutney Soca Monarch title in the USA in 2006, winning the Indo Muqabla competition in Trinidad in 2012, and most recently claiming the Trinidad Nationwide Independence Classical Competition in 2019.
Don't miss this unforgettable night of global rhythms, cross-cultural collaboration, and pure joy.
