Indian Wedding Dances: Celebrating Diwali
Celebrate Diwali with a music and dance performance showcasing Indian wedding traditions featuring Abha B. Roy and Srijan Dance Company. This show reenacts cultural wedding customs such as haldi (placing turmeric on the bride and groom), followed by music and dance from different regions of India, marriage ceremonies, and the farewell to the bride. Students will welcome the bridal party with the tassa drumming procession and have an opportunity to learn an Indian wedding dance as if they were wedding guests.
Format: 60 minutes, in-person performance at Flushing Town Hall’s theater.
Grade Levels: recommended for grades 2-8.
Tickets: ALL tickets $10 per person.
