My Childhood Home: Puppetry Show & Workshop
My Childhood Home is a small shadow theater performance inspired by the puppetry artist Spica Wobbe's childhood memories of growing up in Taipei, Taiwan, in the 1970s. This immersive experience invites students on a journey through memory, where everyday moments are transformed into magical discoveries. Adding another layer of enchantment, students are also invited behind the shadow screen to discover how the visual magic is created, revealing the artistry and techniques behind the illusion. Following the performance, a shadow puppet making workshop will take place where participants will learn modern shadow puppetry techniques and create their own puppets using modern materials. This interactive experience introduces participants to one of the world's oldest artforms in a fun and engaging way, while inspiring them to bring their creations to life.
Format: 60 minutes, in-person performance at Flushing Town Hall’s theater.
Grade Levels: recommended for grades 3-8.
Tickets: ALL tickets $10 per person.
