Xtian Ávila

Xtian Ávila serves as the Executive and Artistic Associate at Flushing Town Hall, where he supports the institution’s mission of cultural exchange. A theatre maker, teaching artist, and Drama League Fellow, Xtian is also the founder and Co-Artistic Director of MexFest, a project dedicated to celebrating and amplifying contemporary Mexican voices.

With a background in directing, producing, playwriting and performing, Xtian has collaborated with The Public Theater and curated community-focused festivals at The Tank NYC. His recent theatrical work includes The Sun Serpent and Elephant & Piggie’s “We are in a Play!” at the Hangar Theatre, as well as productions of Romeo & Juliet and Twelfth Night at New York Live Arts.

After a career spent building a foundation in luxury hospitality management at such storied destinations as The Setai, The Fairmont, and The Lowell, Xtian is honored to now dedicate his professional life to his lifelong passion for the arts.

Deeply committed to service, Xtian is a yoga instructor and a Board Member of GLC (Gay Latino Collective). He has found his most meaningful fulfillment through advocacy for indigenous populations with The God’s Child Project and supporting families in marginalized neighborhoods of Guatemala City with Camino Seguro. Xtian is inspired by the power of the arts to build bridges and is honored to contribute to the vibrant community at Flushing Town Hall. He lives in Harlem with his miniature-pinscher, Rico.
