WORKSHOP DESCRIPTION

A Feel for Tea Workshop/Residency In Person

Exploring the elements of earth, wind, water and fire, students will be guided to imagine, design and create their own clay teacups using a pinch method technique. Through the use of arts vocabulary and literacy, students will use their own set of skills that support learning across the curriculum in Geometry, Mathematics, Ceramic Technical Language, Physics and Earth Science as part of their work. Connections to cultural, social, and historical contexts in clay works will help students gain a better understanding of the work, while acknowledging some links to their community and experiences on the subject of pottery making. Touching, feeling, looking, and constructing pottery focuses on the skills of imagination, observation, and invention leading to exploring and expressing new ways of thinking and feeling. This program can be developed as a residency.

Recycled Bottle Painting Residency In Person

This uniquely designed mixed media bottle painting residency focuses on basic painting technique, the use of space and dimensions, shapes and patterns, visual storytelling, the composition of elements, and structure to connect with themselves. Students will use a variety of organic materials for dimension, texture, and color while guiding students to see their talent, and visualize how to create a unique piece of art. Students will also learn to draw and transfer their image(s) onto a recycled bottle. The process of creation is incorporated as students conclude the program with an exhibit celebration of all the works at the end of the residency.
*Please note that students should bring their own recycled bottle for this workshop*
