Flushing Town Hall is inviting poets, diarists, and storytellers of all kinds to join us for a rousing open mic on the occasion of the ongoing exhibition The Truth As I See It. Hosted and MC'd by curator Zachary Frater and poet Eliel Lucero, participants are invited to share original writings and/or excerpts from Flushing Town Hall's Reading List that pertain to the themes of the exhibition. Some prominent topics from the show include women's rights, politics & protest, the Black experience, queer identity, immigration, and hidden histories of New York. Come speak your truth and commune with neighbors and strangers alike at your local arts council.
Each performer will be limited to sharing one piece under 3 minutes.
Please note that signing up to perform through our RSVP page will secure your slot for the night. An email will be sent out at a later date to confirm your attendance. There will also be a waitlist available at the event for any last minute sign ups.
Please RSVP by Wednesday, July 16th.
Drinks and light refreshments will be served
