Artist Statement

ON STAGE is the latest piece of my collection 'Homage to the Ancestors: Listen to the drum'. The ancestors left us their legacies of stamina, perseverance, courage and strength..all deposited in the 'Bank of Time'. Our ancestors showed us that our goals and aspirations are attainable. ON STAGE is illustrative of such goals and aspirations. Here she is on stage as an opera singer, a dancer, a model, a wardrobe designer. She may be placed in whichever category the viewer sees her. Today, in keeping with the exhibition's theme, Welcome Back, she portrays a hostess. A hostess welcoming each of us to celebrate the 160th birthday of Flushing Town Hall.

About The Artist

Audrey Dove resides in Flushing, New York. Her paintings have been exhibited in person and virtually at Flushing Town Hall and Bayside Historical Society. In March 2020, she had a solo exhibition at the Flushing Public Library. Her paintings 'Bewitching Sunset' and 'Autumn Colors' received Honorable Mention at the Queens County Fair.
