Artist Statement

About The Artist

Denis lives and works in New York since 1999 when she moved from her home country Croatia. She graduated in Fine Arts from the University in Rijeka, Croatia. Her work has been shown internationally, in 15 solo and numerous group exhibitions. She has participated in dozen clay symposiums and taught workshops with a focus on raku, colored clay inlays, and meditation with clay. She has been an artist member and associate teacher at Clay Art Center since 2000, where she received The Ellen Hoffman Rattet Grant in 2007. Denis is also a member of the Croatian association of visual artist HDLU. Her recent work is concept oriented and includes multimedia installations and community projects. Her work has been published in magazines such as Clay Times, Ceramics Monthly, and New York Times, and in the books: “Contemporary Ceramic in Croatia” and “History of Modern Ceramic in Croatia”. Denis is also a president and yoga instructor at Yoga in Daily Life New York.
