Artist Statement

I'm a Baby Boomer who loves to create Retro Collages. While some are considered Retro by 2022, most go way back in time. Either brightly colored or black/white with traces of color, I love creating collages with people - no landscapes or abstract art for me. Romance, friendship, and entertainment of the day are just a few themes used. My collages are composed of a wide assortment of cutouts, stickers, unusual papers, folksy quotes and unique bits and pieces I've collected through the years. Through the decades, my collages have changed in terms of themes and styling. Past works include entire pieces on "I Love Lucy" as well as Gustav Klimt style. I would like viewers of my work to be inspired to create a collage or two. Whatever the result, it will be a personal reflection of your own personality.

About The Artist

I grew up in Forest Hills and and fondly remember shopping at Alexanders and waiting on line for ice cream at Howard Johnsons. Always intrigued by arts and crafts, I started to create collages as a child. I received a degree in Product Design: Textiles Major from the Fashion Institute of Technology. My work afterwards included designing silkscreen patterns, appliques, and embroidery for clothing for women and primarily children. My collages have been exhibited in a variety of venues: The Alliance of Queens Artists (where I was elected president and curated shows), the National Art League, The Queens Museum, colleges, galleries, restaurants, hospitals and outdoor art fairs. At the Queens Public Library, I taught Collage Workshops for children. For thirty years I worked for Northwell Health in Accounts Payable. Now retired, I continue creating collages and participating in shows. The art of collage and especially those celebrating nostalgia will always be a passion of mine.
