Artist Statement

The coronavirus pandemic caused life to become uncertain and in turn, made me think a lot about my future and the future of humanity. What did the future hold? How long was the pandemic going to last? How was humanity going to heal from the consequences of the pandemic? I became so engulfed with seeing the future that I began making oracle cards. At the same time, being in isolation was difficult and so, I felt a strong desire to connect with people. I imagined using the cards in performance outdoors at which I would give readings to the public. I created the cards on recycled postcards. Making the cards was therapeutic and helped to focus my attention and worry less. The cards became a way for me to connect with people and to help me find a way to talk about the angst of life touched by COVID.
