In this workshop, we’ll collectively draw with two natural pigments: clay and cochinilla. Cochinilla is a tiny insect that lives on nopales, a cactus that produces a marvelous carmine color. It has been utilized since pre-Columbian times in Central and South America. The participants will work on a large canvas, exploring the broad possibilities of these two earthy materials. Writing, mapping, drawing, and doodling are welcome. Wear comfortable clothes you don't mind having paint on. During Laboratorio Santuario activation, attendees will have the opportunity to participate in an audiovisual project, create a book and collaborate in a collective piece.
This workshop will be facilitated by Mónica Palma.
