Hyper Bare It written by Lesley Shires is a new play about a young mother who must recover from surgery before beginning chemotherapy, so she is sent to hyperbaric therapy where she heals with an unlikely band of misfits. It will be developed over the late spring and summer with a 2 day reading of it which will coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, at a theatre in Queens. It will be free for audience members with all suggested donations going to the Queens Cancer Center. When Lesley began reflecting on her experiences in the hyperbaric therapy chamber she suddenly felt a pull to use her platform of theatre to share her story so that others who have, or have recovered from, breast cancer would feel like they were not alone.
